Open Face vs. Closed Face Grillz: What’s the Difference?

It is one of the first choices you make when ordering grillz: open face or closed face (also called solid)?

Open face grillz

The metal follows the edges of each tooth like a frame, so your natural tooth shows in the middle. It looks detailed and a little more subtle, and it is a favorite for lady grillz and hearts or stars.

Closed face (solid) grillz

The metal covers the whole front of each tooth for the full gold (or silver) teeth look. Solid grillz can also be diamond cut or set with stones.

Comparison

	Open face	Closed face
Look	Frame, natural tooth visible	Full metal tooth
Style	Detailed, lighter	Bold, classic
Good with	Hearts, stars, bars, lady styles	Diamond cut, diamond dust, stones

Can I combine them?

Yes. A popular combo is open face on the front teeth with solid canines, like our 6-piece open face with solid canines.
